A section of the Val de Zafán Greenway connecting Puigmoreno with Tortosa, crossing landscapes of the Bajo Aragón and Baix Ebre in a route of around 120 km, mostly flat and accessible for cyclists and hikers. The route follows the old railway line, passing through tunnels, viaducts and aqueducts that form part of the historical legacy of the line and offer exceptional views over valleys and rivers.
Along the way, the route crosses iconic landmarks such as the Matarraña Viaduct, the Río Martín Bridge, the Algars Viaduct and the La Torica Aqueduct, set within a natural environment that combines Mediterranean woodland, farmland and irrigated orchards. As the route approaches Tortosa, the inland landscapes give way to the river zones of the Ebro, offering a first glimpse of the Delta and its wetlands.
The entry into Tortosa is made by crossing the river over the Pont Roig, a key connection point with the delta sections and the cycling route towards Amposta and La Ràpita. This section offers a unique combination of industrial and natural heritage, with segregated paths, easy stretches and the possibility of stopping at viewpoints and points of historical and scenic interest.
Viewpoint of the Assut de Xerta
High point with privileged views over the dam and the course of the Ebro, a key space for understanding the historical irrigation system of the territory.
Hermitage of Saint Blaise
The hermitage of Sant Blai de Bot is a small 17th-century heritage treasure that captivates with its simplicity and architectural harmony. Its single nave, polygonal apse, and ribbed vault convey a sense of calm and contemplation. The main facade, featuring a niche dedicated to Saint Blaise, welcomes visitors with a discreet and authentic charm. Inside, the space invites you to imagine the religious and community life of times past. The bell tower, both robust and elegant, overlooks the surroundings, making the visit an essential cultural and scenic experience in the Terra Alta region.
